From 1997 to early 2002, Los-1 and fellow Fla.vor Alliance member Sabe were united as “The Strength”.  The group tackeled tough issues on the mic and delivered a well received album entitled: The Strength: Sandstorm.  Their freshman efforts brought forth a ton of respect and recognition by listners across the state of Florida and other parts of the country, also gaining  them the title given by One Mind Magazine, “The Best New Group of 2000”.

In 2001 they released they’re second album entitled “Spiritual Jungle”, which never really got the chance to take off as the crew suffered a break-up shortly after the release and all music/ touring was put on hold until the two members could come to terms with their families and ministries being mixed together.

It’s because of this break-up that Los-1 entitled his next and first solo album “Help Me”.  As you listen closely to the selections on this record you will notice some very personal lines like in the first cut “Intro” where Los say’s;

In a freak accident, I lost my man
Now I’m forced to hold this mic in my hand
All alone and solo, Los-1 the Fro
one-time spiritual yo-yo
I cleaned my act up, grabbed the boot strap
Put my mic down and returned to class
To find out that I’m still chosen
And God never left my side, I was frozen

A definate cry for help in terms of doing music without a brother-in-arms to back him up lyrically, as it had been a couple of months prior to the Help Me release.  Los wrote and recorded this entire album in 1 month’s time.  Two weeks in writing, and two weeks in recording.  Talk about having to get things off your chest!  I’d say, he was in a rare form.  (No pun to Raw Servant)  Plus a fantastic album for a two-weeks notice.

One thing about Help Me that I love is the transparency of it all.  You can look into the soul of Los and understand his heart and passion for urban ministry.  He gives you so many different sides to his personality in the album, from “Intro” to “Shandy” to “Testimony” to  “Younger Years” and “Spittin’ Scriptures”, that you have no choice but to see this dudes intention for rappin’.  He’s reaching for people who already know God personally.  Reaching for those who need more explanation about God before they can trust Him (God) enough to give their lives to Him.  And he’s letting personal feelings be exposed at the same time, causing us to identify with the “behind the scenes” Los-1, while seeing ourselves and our lives in him and what he’s going through as an individual.

Sick.  That’s all I have to say.  Sick in a good way, sick.  What more does anyone want in a record?  You can dance to a few, cry to a few, get schooled on some and learn from it all.  Help Me is a great record and has been called “classic” by some in the community already.
